As you probably noticed
we had a bit of an experience at
Old Chicago...but it was no real reflection on the restaurant or its food. I thought as an extra bonus I would throw in a review of the food smorgasbord we experienced.
I ordered the "Italian Nachos" appetizer. It is fried pasta - used for chips - with pepperoni, mozzarella, pepperoncini and a marinara dipping sauce. Good in theory and description, dry and a bit tasteless in reality. Choose something else and report back in the comments here.
I really didn't mention it in the other story...but when our originally ordered "Chicago Seven" deep-dish pizza finally arrived it was now a "Chicago Seven" regular crust. It wasn't very good...but we also were no longer hungry. When I had this pizza previously it was fine.
However, I would recommend completely skipping that acceptable pizza for the 'time filler' pizza we received, the "Double Deckeroni" deep dish. Damn that is tasty. Double pepperoni on top of an red sauce spinkled with a magic drizzle of some sort of Louisiana hot sauce. Mmmmm...it is our new official Old Chicago pizza.
For dessert? (If you feel it necessary.) Big Cookie ála Mode. Do it!

Get. this. pizza.
PS: We had the Taco pizza as well...fine. Could be better.
We ordered the Hawaiian.
What we got wasn't what I would call "Hawaiian"...but I would call it delicious. It was your standard hawaiian toppings; canadian bacon & pinapple - but in addition to that were green/red peppers and green onions - the sauce seems sort of smokey/spicy than the regular pizza sauce.
Great stuff - do it.
Had the usual Double Deckeroni...along with the Chicago Seven and bro#3's favorite King of Hearts. Don enjoyed a plate of their spaghetti with meatballs which he gave the thumbs up.
The conversation was scintillating and a good time was had by all.
